You can configure the Contact Account Creator iPart to have your users select their organization while they create their account. A separate option lets you require them to enter an organization. In all cases, as users enter characters in the field, a list of matching names updates dynamically, so that they can select one from the list. If their organization is not found, then the name that they enter in the field is stored in their record.
When users enter company names as plain text (because they did not select a matching company), staff members must edit those contact records later to add those users manually to the rosters of companies to which they should belong.
Tip: To avoid this work, always add records for new organizations before adding records for its contacts.
How iMIS matches organization names
The control for searching and adding companies delays auto-completing until the user has entered at least 3 characters. This delay helps users understand that they are to type in the company name, and it prevents excessive flashing and redrawing of the filtered company matches. This behavior occurs on the Contact Account Creator, Contact Name, and Contact Mini Profile iParts.
Tip: Because auto-complete requires 3 characters to perform a match, type a trailing space to trigger matching on a 2-character company name.
